A Kashmiri potter makes earthen pots on wheel November 3 in Charar-i-Sharief 17 miles southwest of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian administered Kashmir, India. The earthen pots made from a special type of clay that at one time was in great demand in Kashmir. One of the oldest professions in Kashmir, over the decades the trade has declined slowly as older potters have died and others have turned to other ways of making a living. Many potters earn only two dollars a day.
