Two of Princess Diana's dresses auctioned through WE tv and Wedding Central at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills on May 7th in celebration of the Royal Wedding, with a portion of the proceeds going to charity are shown at Times Square on April 20, in New York City.

Princess Diana dresses sell for $276,000 at auction in Beverly Hills

    According to the Reuters:

The dress that sold for $144,000 was described by the auction house as a black crepe evening gown that Diana wore during a state visit in 1992.

The princess wore the second dress, which is silk chiffon and strapless, to the Cannes Film Festival in 1987 as well as in a portrait sitting that year and to a 1989 performance of "Miss Saigon" at Theater Royal in London.

Thousands of replicas of Princess Diana's engagement ring roll off the production line

    ChinaFotoPress / Getty Images

Workers produce replicas of Princess Diana's engagement ring at Yiwu Mingwang Jewellery Co in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province, China on March 16. As the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton is fast approaching, more replicas are being produced in China. Although being far from the quality of the original, with rhine stones instead of sapphires, these rings sell only for US $3 in Yiwu and around US $30 overseas.

By David R Arnott, NBC News

Back in 1981 it cost a reported $60,000. But if you should find yourself in Yiwu, China, you can pick up a replica of Princess Diana and Kate Middleton's engagement ring for just $3. Discover the story of the real ring in this video:

In 1981, Prince William's mother, Princess Diana, caused a stir when she picked out the 18-carat sapphire ring for her engagement. Now, her son's wedding announcement adds more lore to the ring. NBC's Lee Cowan reports.
