Someone needs to get a hold of this talented young man and tell him to QIUT GRABBING HIS CROTCH. It degrades him as a performer. Whoever is mentoring him, needs to tell him it is unnecessary-he has talent...why the gimmick?

A makeup artist's view of Marilyn Monroe

    Julien's Auctions

Randee Dawn report's on Today's Entertainment blog that makeup artist Allan "Whitey" Snyder had a unique relationship to Marilyn Monroe that resulted in the images now up for auction:

"It's spectacular," said Martin Nolan of Julien's Auction House, who brought several of the photos going up for auction on March 31 to the TODAY studio Friday, and spoke to Matt Lauer. "He was involved with her on the set and off the set, Matt, so he had amazing, privileged access."

Many of the photos were taken in the 1940s and 1950s and show Monroe smiling, giving her all to the camera while on location for some of her well-known and lesser-known films. Reportedly, Snyder would photograph Monroe to calm her down when she was feeling jittery.

"The camera loved Marilyn Monroe, but Marilyn loved the camera," said Nolan. "When the camera was rolling she became Marilyn Monroe. She became distracted from her own issues and just played the role. She loved the camera."

Tara Frey poses in her Starburst candy wrappers dress for her high school prom, which this year has a "Candyland" theme in River Falls, Wis. Each wrapper has been folded eight times and pressed with tweezers for a tight weave. It's the work of Tara's mother, Kerrin, and a few of her friends. Kerrin Frey says she got the idea from a mother who started weaving gum wrappers during her children's hockey games.

I've heard of challenges to make clothes from colored Duct Tape, and in college I attended more than one party where budding photojournalists made tops or dresses from sewn together film (remember film?) but apparently Starburst candies are the rage these days when it comes to alternative clothing materials.

What do you think?  Is this a match made in heaven, or just a weird animal kingdom coincidence?
