    Fighting the chill on the Cold War's last frontier

    An instructor from the Tianjiao Special Guard/Security Consultant Ltd. Co, smashes a bottle over a female recruit's head during a training session for China's first female bodyguards in Beijing on Jan. 13. According to the company, the training session consists of 20 women, mostly college graduates, who will undergo 8-10 months of training to develop sufficient skills to become security guards.     I call shenanigans. Mythbusters did an episode called "Bottle Bash" where they showed the very high probability of brain damage from being struck with a bottle in the head. They also showed lots of head strikes using prop bottles that looked impressive. I'm thinking this is disinformation out of Chi …

    All pics great EXCEPT for the rifle in the mud photo. It looks as if the young man is more worried about getting his clean, delicate hands dirty than keeping the muzzle of his rfle out of the mud. A Marine DI would have him drinking the mud. Hopefully he stays with the Navy-probably a pilot.

    Marine trainees participate in 'Road to Heaven' test in Taiwan

    According to Reuters: Trainees take part in the Taiwan Marines frogmen "Road to Heaven" test in Zuoying, Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan. The "Road to Heaven" test, which is the final stage of a nine week intensive Amphibious Training Program, requires trainees to execute various exercises and leopard crawl along a 50 meter long path that is littered with jagged corals and rocks.
