A tornado is seen near Hattiesburg, Miss., Feb. 10. The tornado, which touched down at approximately 5:30 p.m. local time, was reported to have injured three people and caused damage to the nearby campus of the University of Southern Mississippi.

“There are power lines down, some gas lines down. We are encouraging people to stay at home, don't leave home unless you have to,” said Kyle Hopkins, a member of Forrest County’s Emergency Management team. “University of Southern Mississippi was hit by the tornado. No dorms were damaged and there were no injuries on campus, however some academic buildings were damaged.”
The National Weather Service warns that the threat of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes in the Gulf Coast will continue late into Sunday evening. Continue reading.
