Drew Brees #9 of the New Orleans Saints dives on a quaterback sneak on fourth down in the third quarter against the Detroit Lions during their 2012 NFC Wild Card Playoff game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Jan. 7, in New Orleans, La.

Brees leads New Orleans Saints past Detroit Lions, 45-28

    AP reports:

"We were pulling out all the stops," Brees said. "We play aggressive. We're not going to apologize for that. That gives guys in the huddle a lot of confidence. We're not going to pull the reins back. It's pedal to the medal."

Brees hit on 33 of 43 passes while throwing for the most yards in a regulation playoff game. He highlighted his night with three completions of at least 40 yards.

Members of the Baltimore Orioles swarm Nolan Reimold #14 after he scored the winning run to defeat the Boston Red Sox 4-3 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 in Baltimore, Maryland.

    AP reports:

BALTIMORE - The Boston Red Sox completed their September collapse in horrific and historic fashion, falling out of the playoff chase by allowing two ninth-inning runs in a 4-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night.

The Red Sox held a nine-game lead in the AL wild-card race after Sept. 3, but a 7-19 swoon left them tied with Tampa Bay entering the final day of the regular season.

Only minutes after this game ended, the Rays completed their comeback from a 7-0 deficit with an 8-7 win over the New York Yankees in 12 innings. Full story.

The picture of the Orioles looks like THEY just made the playoffs. Maybe someone should tell them they lost 93 games.
